From nadir to zenith, horizons can be spun any direction, worlds miniaturized, sparkling vistas and deep empty space navigated. This work is about travelling through realms as we do through space and time. I want my painting to be ambiguous and in-between possible readings, sited perhaps between a luxurious romanticism and dystopian decline.
Working on one painterly surface to another and back again is an excursion through possibilities, tangible in their materiality and sometimes illusionistic in outcome. These expeditions are seldom linear, seldom adhere to the plan, but always encompass a sense of moving towards a certain ‘zwischen’ destination.
