Lorraine Rastorfer was awarded Master of Fine Arts (First Class Hons),1992, from Auckland University and has exhibited nationally and internationally since. She has won numerous awards and grants for her painting including CoCA/Anthony Harper National Contemporary Art Award, (2005), Art Waikato National Painting and Printmaking Award (2002), Norsewear Art Awards (People’s Choice 2007), Ida Eise Painting Award (1992), and Wallace Art Award (Runner-up 1992). A regular NZ art awards finalist, Rastorfer was a selected for the 2014 & 2015 National Contemporary Art Awards at Waikato Museum, and 2014/15/16 Parkin Drawing Prize, Wellington. Her work is represented in many corporate and private collections in Japan, Australia, UK, USA, Austria and New Zealand. Lorraine travelled widely over a seven year period prior to her studies and worked for extended periods in Japan, Australia, England and Austria, where she also holds citizenship.
